School of Grassland Science
The College of Grassland Science of Beijing Forestry University was founded in November 2018 to meet the national strategic needs of China’s grassland conservation, ecological restoration and proper utilization. As the youngest college at BFU, the College of Grassland Science currently has two academic disciplines including grassland science and turfgrass science, with two more disciplines (forage grass science and grassland protection) under active construction. The College offers degree of bachelor of science in agriculture, and degrees of master and PhD in grassland science. At present, there are 22 faculty members in the College who have conducted outstanding teaching and nearly 100 national or provincial level research projects.
The College attaches great importance to academic exchanges and cooperation at home and abroad. From 2003 to 2017, the College (formerly the Discipline of Grassland Science) had joint international program of “turfgrass management” with Michigan State University and trained hundreds of outstanding undergraduate students. Over the past 20 years, faculty and students have built relationship with more than 20 universities in United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Japan, South Korea, Australia and other countries. Most of faculty members have experience of visiting, studying or working in foreign institutions. Dozens of internationally renowned grassland or turfgrass science experts have been invited to the College for academic exchanges and cooperation. In the past 10 years, the College has hosted or organized seven important international academic conferences, expanding our vison and influence worldwide.
The College will continue its efforts to pursue excellence in grassland science, and to become an internationally recognized first-class education and research organization.
